Company Formation in Qatar: Structures and Steps

Qatar offers several incorporation routes and the right one depends on who your customers are, whether you need a physical presence, and what ownership structure you want.

Pick the structure before the name

Mainland companies, free zone entities and QFC firms differ on permitted activities, ownership, tax treatment and the ability to contract with government bodies.

  • Map your customers: local market, regional or export.
  • Confirm the activity is permitted under the structure you want.
  • Check office or substance requirements before committing.

Reserve the name and file the constitution

Name reservation, articles of association and shareholder documents are the first filings. Foreign corporate shareholders usually need attested and legalised documents.

Licensing and registration

Commercial registration, the trade licence, the establishment card and tax registration follow incorporation and each has its own renewal cycle.

Ongoing obligations

Budget for annual renewals, audited accounts where required, and the employment and immigration files that follow once you hire.
