A Kuwait work permit is an employer-led process with several sequential government steps, and the timeline is set by the sponsor’s file rather than the employee.
Employer approval first
The employer applies for a work permit against its own quota. Nothing on the employee side can be finalised until that approval is issued.
Entry visa and arrival checks
Once the permit is approved, the employee receives an entry visa and completes medical checks and biometrics after arrival.
- Keep attested education certificates ready before travel.
- Confirm the job title on the permit matches the offer.
- Diarise the residence stamping deadline after arrival.
Residency stamping
The residence permit is stamped in the passport after the medical and civil ID steps are complete. This is what makes the stay lawful, not the entry visa.
Changing employer later
Transfers have their own conditions and timing. Check them before resigning rather than after.
